289 Construction – The Ewens (Roof, Remodel, Rennovation)
This job started as a simple composition roof replacement after a hailstorm passed through earlier in the year. There was also a section of the roof that sagged between ceiling joists. Once the roof was removed, we discovered the sagging areas where caused by the use of a low grade, thin plywood with no clips. This decking was removed and replaced with traditional 7/16″ OSB and the appropriate number of clips to connect one piece to the next. Once the new decking installation was complete we were able to finish the remainder that consisted of #15 felt and 30-year composition shingles. With the roof complete we went back to ground level and built a small back porch to cover plants, patio furniture, and grill area. The porch includes built in accent lighting, ceiling fan, and cable TV. From here we moved inside to replace tile flooring, remodel two bathrooms, and turn a storage closet into a full service wetbar. We started with demo, removing tile floors, cabinets, shower enclosures, and an entire hallway closet. One bathroom called for a toilet relocation, which required cutting and jack hammering the slab. We replaced all the old corroded copper lines with pex including on/off valves for each fixture. The floors and showers received tile from top to bottom. Cabinets were constructed of stain grade maple with Shaker style doors and Brownie colored granite to top it off. New plumbing fixtures, trim, and paint finished this one up.
